Puppy Soul is a new band from Trevor Magaña, the drummer of Hollow Ran. Trevor steps out from behind the drums, finally bringing together his meticulous songcraft and lo-fi sensibilities to deliver five songs that orbit around the constellations of bedroom pop, slowcore and jazzy indie rock.

After recruiting drummer and recording engineer Jon Model, Puppy Soul self-recorded their debut EP live with minimal overdubs at The WhereHouse. Vocal overdubs, recorded using cell phone voice memos, sit in a hazy ambiance of dreamy jazz chords and deliberate rhythms. Trevor's peculiar chord choices grab the listeners attention and bring a drummer's rhymthic perspective to playing guitar. While moments may hint at Trevor's math rock upbringing, his songwriting challenges the borders of pop songs and opens a portal to lofi dreams.
